I am writing this letter as a concerned member of the community.  

 

I support the .xxx registry as I believe it will serve the online
community well to know what sort of site they are reading.  For example,
websites with the .edu suffix provide me with a sense of higher learning
and truth as they are for education.  Sites with .org often have
charitable relations, and those with .com are commercial and the
information contained therein must be read with that consideration in
mind.  Therefore, I feel that a designation for Porn related sites only
helps the online community to classify their web viewing.  I have no
problem with porn - I enjoy it sometimes - however, I would like the
choice to determine if I am or am not going to visit a porn site.
Currently porn sites can be confused with .com sites.  THIS is a problem
I believe.   The XXX would help mitigate that problem and decrease the
frequency with which young web surfers end up at sites that
inadvertently ended up on, but once they have seen it, can not turn
away.
