Dear Sirs,
The Czech Republic would like to make the following submission regarding
the introduction of new gTLDs and mainly the ICANN's Draft Applicant
Guidebook, 2nd version:
The Czech Republic is worried about the fact that the process of the
introduction of new gTLDs may lead to the end-user's confusion and
disintegration of the current system of DNS management. This could cause
a lot of administrative and security problems. In view of this concern,
the Czech Republic would recommend to reconsider the whole process of
the introduction of new gTLDs. Namely, we recommend that an analysis is
carried out, which would confirm that the stability and the security of
the DNS system will not be endangered by this process.
The Czech Republic also supports the comments and recommendations issued
by the European-American Business Council (EABC) in March 2009. In
particular, we regard as very significant that ICANN incorporates into
the next draft of the Applicant Guidebook recommendations proposed by
the Implementation Recommendation Team (IRT) mentioned in the EABC
paper.
We understand that the IRT Team includes participants from various parts
of the world and differing Internet interest environments and as such it
is well positioned to come to effective balanced pre- and
post-delegation solutions to the trademark protection issues in
connection with the introduction of new gTLDs.
Yours sincerely,
Monika POCHYLA
