Dear All,

Have tracked the changes suggested on the call today. If I've missed
something please feel free to edit in. Will wait a couple of hours and then
send to Marika.

Will also follow up on Pam's commitment for annual reports on WHOIS Access
recommendation #2 and circulate. And also follow up for Liz's clarification
on WHOIS Studies.

Sincerely,

Thanks. I agree that we need to keep pushing on the "uniformity of
contracts" issue. Staff's drafting of the relevant resolved clause to say
that the WG 'did not achieve consensus' and so the Council will drop the
issue is Unacceptable. The Council achieved consensus long ago that the
issue should be studied (see the original resolution and the Charter). The
WG did have virtually unanimous consensus, at least outside of the purely
self-interested contracting parties, that there should be uniformity around
contracting parties' responsibility to deal with abuse. A lot of work went
into demonstrating the lack of uniformity and how it has created confusion
around contracting parties' responsibility to deal with abuse. This is
nothing more than contracting parties trying to bury an issue that they
don't like, and Staff eating out of their hands since it would clearly be
less work for Staff if the issue is dropped. We should keep fighting and I
am happy to help with that.

Best,

Mike
