Your explanations are very useful and provide great historical context.

I see no reason why nominations could not be sent to the list and made
public, whilst being recorded by the voting officers.

This is the way it's done in the registrars SG and in all my years there, I
cannot recall ever witnessing an election problem.

I would add that transparency in the RrSG extends to the votes, which are
published after the elections.

I have always found this to be a very efficient way of allowing the voters
to check that their votes were properly accepted and recorded. So to me
that is another step in the direction of good election processes.

Please note that these are suggestions based on my own personal experience
and penchant for transparency. I hope people do not feel I am overstepping
in discussing this.
