I am writing to urge you to support laws, bills, legislation, etc. which
will protect children and families from sexually explicit on line material.
We are in support of legislation for and strict enforcement of that
protection.
Our children (and adults!) deserve the right to not be exposed to sexually
explicit material. They often don¹t even have that choice, because it is
thrust upon them through no desire of their own to view anything.
We have five children and have been involved in family oriented issues for
years. I have been a PTA president, PTO officer, and my husband and I have
served on boards promoting education. There has never been a time in which
we have seen anything but harm from children being exposed to internet
porn. At first, children are scared when they see it, then it can quickly
escalates into curiosity, addiction, and very often harm to others as they
play out what they have seen on line.
Why, or why in the name of freedom would we hurt innocent people? That kind
of freedom becomes slavery.
Please be courageous in letting your voices be heard in support of
regulating explicit online material.
Thank you.
Peggy Rinehart
