Comment on CyberSafety Constituency Petition and Charter

The proposed constituency would exist solely to impose the will of a very
small group upon the entirety of the Internet, or upon the Internet within
the US, which they would then cut off from the rest of the world which did
not "comply" with such nonsense. This is a blatant attempt at usurping
secular authority by one small religious organization, and the idea of such
a theocratic oligarchy setting nation- or world-wide policy for electronic
communication is chilling. The aims of such a group are highly unlikely to
be limited to restricting any narrow definition of pornographic content. The
creation of such a policy-setting entity would serve as the first step in a
broad-based erosion of free expression and religious freedom for everyone
outside this very small group. This petition should be denied in this and
any future form.
