<html><head></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode:
space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">hi all,<div><br></div><div>i've
attached another boring status report. &nbsp;but the *work* is getting pretty
interesting. &nbsp;we've got a gaggle of risk-scenarios already submitted and
this week would be a good time to submit yours if you have any in mind.
&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>looking forward to Prague, we need to move
along pretty fast to get the scenarios submitted, edited and a few choice ones
selected to recommend for our "go deep" analysis. &nbsp;so take a look at the
ones that have already come in if you're hunting for examples. &nbsp;here's a
link to the page where i've posted the ones that Rossella, Warren, Jorg and i
submitted. &nbsp;Rossella and i are in the running for high-score, so far
Rossella is in the lead. &nbsp;who would have thought i was so grouchy. &nbsp;
Warren's "Matt scenario" has nailed the low score of
0.</div><div><br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span"
style="white-space:pre">       <a
href="https://community.icann.org/display/AW/Risk+Scenario+worksheets";>https://community.icann.org/display/AW/Risk+Scenario+worksheets</a></span></div><div><br></div><div>please
 do try to get your scenarios to me by close of business Tuesday (your time) so
i can post them to the site. &nbsp;here's a link to the current version of the
worksheet -- please use that one if you can, otherwise i just have to
transcribe them.</div><div><br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span"
style="white-space:pre">        <a
href="https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/30346003/DSSA+-+Risk+Scenarios+v5.xls";>https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/30346003/DSSA+-+Risk+Scenarios+v5.xls</a></span></div><div><br></div><div>a
 couple of things came up in the chat just as the call was winding down that i
wanted to pick up. &nbsp;there was a bit of conversation about the forced score
of 10 in the threat-event area. &nbsp;some of you may have missed this part of
the discussion. &nbsp;remember that we're doing a worst-case analysis -- the
root is gone, .COM is compromised, etc. &nbsp;there are certainly scenarios
where this won't be the case, but this is our way out of the "scaling" problem
that we ran into a few months ago. &nbsp;here are the quotes that we'll be
putting in the report (which is the reason why the 10's are hard-coded into the
spreadsheet);</div><div><br></div><blockquote class="webkit-indent-blockquote"
style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;"><div>

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="425"
style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 425pt; position: static; z-index:
auto; ">
 <colgroup><col width="425"
style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:18133;width:425pt">
 </colgroup><tbody><tr height="60" style="height:60.0pt">
<!--StartFragment-->
  <td height="60" class="xl65" width="425"
style="height:60.0pt;width:425pt">"In the
  worst case there would be broad harm/consequence/impact to operations,
  assets, individuals, other organizations and the world if any of these
  threat-events occur. &nbsp;And in all cases there would be significant
  problems for registrants and users in the zone."</td>
<!--EndFragment-->
 </tr>
</tbody></table></div></blockquote><div>the other chat topic that came up which
was really interesting was Warren's question "what do we do with 'scary'
scenarios?" &nbsp;i think we should have a go at them. &nbsp;some of the ones
that are already up there are pretty dire -- i think it's good to get them out
in the open so that people realize that we are taking a pretty tough look at
the situation. &nbsp;but we should have a chat about that on the next
call.</div><div><br></div><div>thanks,</div><div><br></div><div>mikey</div><div><br></div><div></div></body></html>
