Phil,

 

One of the purposes behind the Issues Report on Domain Tasting
(http://gnso.icann.org/issues/domain-tasting/gnso-domain-tasting-report-14ju
n07.pdf) as well as the recent ICANN workshops on domain tasting,
monetization and the domain name marketplace, was to provide background and
a common vocabulary for discussion of these issues. The use of potentially
confusing terms such as "kiting" in reference to domain tasting (see page
22-23 of the Issues Report) does not clarify the practice for those
unfamiliar with domain name registration, and may lead to a perception that
all domain tasting is "kiting".
