Thanks, Marilyn! As to your question, I think it's firstly a matter of
registry reports and what is (or could come) in them. If such data permits
doing such calculations, it wouldn't be overly complex to perform the
calculations as such, I think.
All the best

Sorry. I was referencing the questions that Mike and Jeff asked re how many
names were dropped and reregistered 3 times, 5 times, etc as 'categories'.
Poor structure to my email. Had to have the string in front of you.
Apologies.

Marilyn Cade

Marilyn (and all),
Thanks for your question, but I?m a bit bewildered by it ? You?re asking for
a fitting of registrars into ?these? categories, but I can?t see any
categories referenced to fit them into. Please explain so a poor Swede
understands?.
Best
Olof

Thanks, Jeff and Mike.
I recommend that we just ensure that the request asks that the stats be
separately reported by .net and .com.
Overall, I'd assume that all of the stats gathered will need to be TLD
specific. That would be helpful overall, as ICANN moves into a more
professional role in its gathering and publication of industry statistics,
to have all stats related to individual TLD.
A question for the Staff. Where will the stats come from that show which
registrars, and how many, fit into each of these categories? Is that a ICANN
staff reporting, or a registry report?

Jeff Neuman and I have agreed to the following request to Verisign, and
would like any feedback or suggested changes from the group by next Tuesday
please.
We ask for stats at least for the last one year period -- July 1, 2006
through June 30, 2007 (since all of their earnings for this period have been
announced) ? and further historical data would be greatly appreciated as
well:
a) How many domains were registered and subsequently deleted within 5
days during each month, quarter and year? This should be broken out by each
registrar as well.
b) What percentage of all adds are grace deleted -- in total and
broken down by registrar?
c) How many domains have been registered, deleted, and
re-registered? Please provide a breakdown of these stats by number of times
a domain was re-registered within one year. For example:
a. X number of domain names have not been re-registered during this one
year period
b. Y number of domain names have been re-registered once during this time
period
c. Z number of domain names have been re-registered twice during this
time period
d. AA number of domain names have been re-registered between 3 and 5
times
e. BB number of domain names have been re-registered between 5 and 10
times
f. CC number of domain names have been re-registered between 10 and 20
times
DD number of domain name have been re-registered more than 20 times
