To me the purpose of two calls same day, per week -- to progress work; to
ensure the ability of the largest number of members to participate, and to
devote sufficient time to allow sharing of information across the members of
the TF -- should be the 'guide'. If that is best done with two calls due to
the breadth of the time zone distribution, then I support that. However, I
note that having worked in this space for some years, it is very challenging
to pick a time that is 'acceptable'. 

I can do calls at 5 a.m. but young parents find that challenging. I can do
calls at 10 p.m. at night; that is not usually acceptable to parents, or
many professionals with demanding early start schedules. It is extremely
hard to do an effective call at 1 or 2 or 3 a.m in whatever time zone one is
in.  I know that some Europeans hate calls in the evening, but that might be
the only feasible time slot that can bridge the time zone divide. :-)

Several WG members suggest that we should collapse the paired calls into
a
single call each week so we can all focus with intensity on our
discussion
rather than attempting to reconcile discussion between the two calls.

The original reason for the paired calls was to achieve momentum on our
task.  I believe that we have achieved that goal.  I am open to
collapsing
the paired calls into a single call each week, with an alternating time
schedule so that different parts of the world are inconvenienced each
week.

Please write in to the list your preference:
1) Single weekly call, alternating between earlier & late time slots
each
week, each call now extending for 120 minutes (2 hours)
2) Status quo (paired calls, each 90 minutes)
