[gnso-igo-ingo] Additional information on the consensus call!
All, as you know, I previously provided a response to some questions that have arisen with respect to the consensus call and how to respond to it. In my response, I said that all WG members are encouraged, but not obliged to respond to all recommendations in the document. However, let me reiterate that I STRONGLY encourage ALL members to respond to ALL recommendations as you consider the options with your respective groups, i.e. the recommendations on the table concerning all four categories of organizations (IOC, RCRC, IGOs and INGOs). Some of you may note that I have never used capital letters so extensively when addressing you before. :-) Nonetheless, I am doing so on this occasion to direct your attention to the fact that the purpose of the consensus call is to reflect the spectrum of WG member views with respect to all draft recommendations. If you limit your feedback to a subset of the draft recommendations and if others do the same, this might shed a completely different light on the consensus level inside the group. The same effect might occur if you do not respond to the recommendations one by one and instead consider this a "package deal" by giving only one answer to all of the recommendations. We have designed the consensus call to allow for feedback with a great deal of granularity. Let's avail ourselves to these options! Thanks and have a great weekend, Thomas Attachment:
