Subject: GNSO Improvements Working Team Meetings in Mexico
Importance: High
Ken/Olga/Mason,
I am sending this message as chair of the OSC to the three of you as interim
chairs of the three OSC work teams.
Will each of you be attending the ICANN meetings in Mexico City? If so, when
are you scheduled to arrive?
The GNSO working session schedule on Saturday, 28 Feb., and Sunday, 1 Mar. is
still in flux, but I think there are pretty good chances that there will be
time for GNSO Improvements kick-off work team meetings on Saturday morning and
Sunday afternoon. The GNSO will have two rooms available on those days so it
will be possible to have up to two meetings at the same time. As is the usual
practice, teleconference capabilities should be available for team members who
cannot attend in person.
We need to very quickly firm up days and times for WT meetings in Mexico.
Anything you can do using the email list that has been established for your
team would be very appreciated.
If you are not able to be in Mexico on the 28th or 1st and not comfortable
chairing the kick-off meeting remotely, please try to find someone on your team
who could so or consider trying to find a time later in the week when you will
be there. The latter may be very challenging because of the large number of
meetings and activities during the week as well as the limitation of available
rooms so I think that should only be attempted as a last resort.
Whereas, I want you to have freedom to lead as you see fit, I want to suggest
the following for your consideration as topics for the kickoff meeting:
1. Review and discussion of the WT Charter with particular emphasis on
deliverables
2. Procedures for selecting permanent WT leaders (e.g., chair, alternate
chair, co-chairs?) including proposed timeline
3. Procedures for finalizing the WT Charter including proposed timeline.
4. Best times and frequency for regular WT teleconference meetings.
I hope that each of you and the WT volunteers responded to Glen's request
regarding what times on Saturday and/or Sunday would be best for you.
Glen - If possible and if not already done, could you send the following to
each of the OSC Work Team Interim Chairs:
1. List of WT volunteers
2. Summary of best times for the kickoff meeting in Mexico
3. List of WT members who will be in Mexico City
4. Name of assigned ICANN Staff support personnel.
If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
Chuck
