My interpretation was a little different, Wolf. I meant to bring closure to
this question but realized after we adjourned that I really did not do so.
I think the question is still an open point where I have already seen from
Ron his thinking that a meeting should be called. As I stated in our recent
meeting, I am not against it but was personally struggling to define an
agenda of items of enough importance to warrant conflicts of work team
members to other scheduled meetings going on at the same time. We all
realize that people are stretched thin, volunteering in different groups and
capacities. When we have an urgency such as the Seoul meeting w/ regards to
the Council RoP, then I think it appropriate for us to ask for priority from
people?but if our agenda is not as such for Nairobi then I think it equally
reasonable to avoid scheduling conflicts. This is my own opinion
understanding the environment of all that goes on the weekend of the ICANN
public meetings. Likewise, in the future, if agenda items for the GCOT are
of greater urgency, I would not hesitate to ask people to give us priority
in the event of scheduling conflict. Hope this helps to explain.

I'm a little confused since according to our last meeting minutes we
determined already not to hold an F2F meeting. This I've already
communicated to Stéphane van Gelder being in charge for GNSO meeting
schedules.

Anyway I'm open to participate. We may need still discussion on abstention
if our own schedule fails. In addition board member election is an important
item.

Kind regards
Wolf-Ulrich

Betreff: [gnso-osc-ops] In-Person Meeting - Nairobi

All: I am seeking formal consultation from Work Team members on the
necessity of calling an in-person meeting of the GCOT as part of the
upcoming ICANN meeting in Nairobi. I am raising the question as a result of
scheduling conflicts to other meetings that will likely limit attendance to
a meeting we may schedule for the GCOT. If we decide a meeting is not
necessary, such communication from the GCOT as early as possible to those
responsible for preparing meeting schedules, room reservations, and other
supplementary information would likely be very appreciated, with the same
being true vice versa.

Please let me know your thoughts by group response to our list.

Ray
