Thanks Berry - interesting.

I wonder what constitutes a 'legitimate site'?

No doubt this includes business websites that are constantly under attack 
due to their high traffic volume but I suspect it may also include all the 
PPC and traffic diversion sites that litter the Internet?  If so, I can't 
imagine any of these site owners wanting to apply controls and security 
measures that would have an adverse impact on their ROI.........

"Websense Security Labs claims that 95% of the Web's user-generated 
content is spam or malware.  And 71% of sites containing malicious 
code were legitimate sites that had been compromised.  "SEO Poisoning" 
- using popular search terms to pump up the ranking of a malware site 
and disguise its purpose - has also proved successful.  An average of 
14% of Google's top results for hot topics were malicious."  Ars
