[npoc] Re: Appointment of Ms. Cintra Sooknanan as Interim Vice-Chair of NPOC

Dear all,

To repeat what has already been clearly stated:

1) Cintra was appointed as Acting Vice-Chair of NPOC to replace Lori
Schulman who resigned for personal reasons (these are confidential and
called for quick discretionary decision-making by myself); This was a fast
track appointment decided exceptionally by NPOC-EC members in Toronto
(Klaus, Marie-Laure, Eduardo and the undersigned, so 4 out of 5 seating EC
members as Judy Branzelle was not available  for urgent consultations).
This decision was made quickly to respond to the needs and request of Lori,
again for confidential personal reasons. This was all explained on
NPOC-Voice.
2) Given the pace at which NCSG-EC works, the NPOC appointee to NCSG-EC to
replace Lori, which is not automatically Cintra but she is not excluded as
a candidate, is less urgent and the NPOC membership needs to be fully
consulted anyway, as always. This will first be discussed at NPOC's
November monthly call with the membership at large and then posted on
NPOC-Voice for nominations.

I can't think of a process that would be more open, transparent and
accountable to the membership.
