Support for build-out of languages with limited web-presence
To Whom It May Concern: Please find attached a letter addressed to the Chairman and President and CEO of ICANN on the matter of multi-script applications. This letter was posted on the ICANN web site on 11 May 2011, however since that time a number of further signatories, representing a broad range of interests, have added their names. The letter strongly supports the JAS Working Group's consensus that for applicants ".providing build-out of a language whose web-presence is limited.". The letter also underscores the potential value in the concept of application "bundling" or multi-script applications as discussed in the 2nd Milestone Report. For years many members of the ICANN community have called upon the Board to do more in its support for the non-English and non-Latin script Internet communities around the world, starting with a prioritized approach to IDNs. Supporting multi-script applications by reducing the cost - from the start, as part of the new gTLD process - will help underserved language and script communities around the world and provide opportunities in a way that is fiscally responsible and keeps to ICANN's core values. Thank you, On behalf of the signatories, Ron Andruff Ronald N. Andruff RNA Partners, Inc. Attachment:
