Re: [soac-mapo] RE: Initial Draft ToR for Recommendation 6 Implementation Discussion
<html><head><base href="x-msg://997/"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">I do not support the document as-is and would like to propose two edits as shown in the attachment:<div><br></div><div>First, I have simply stricken bullet #1 under the heading "WG tasks". First of all, I think the introduction to this section is already clear in the general objectives it states for the group. But more importantly, if the WG has an objective to search for alternate terms for morality and public order, then it is searching for ways to change recommendation 6. This discussion group was started on the premise that it would not seek to change Rec 6 in any way. If there is a desire to change Rec 6, then in my view this must first go through the GNSO and is not appropriate for this cross-constituency discussion group.</div><div><br></div><div>My second edit aims to strengthen the wording on the group's intended timeline. I have deleted the reference to the possibility of doing an interim report if the group does not meet its intended deadline. Another starting principle of this group is that it would not cause more delays but instead be a expeditious affair. That being the case, I do not think the ToR should even entertain the notion that the group might not meet its initial deadline. Suggesting it might not is as good as saying it won't. The group should aim to meet the deadline required to get its report to the Board within the deadline set for its September retreat, period.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div></div></body></html> Attachment:
