Hi Chuck-
I'll include these changes. Is the suggestion for Monday's call in addition
to another call this week? I think we need more than one call to get through
the rest of the recommendations. On last Monday's call we went through five
out of 16 topics, and didn't even fully complete the analysis for those topics.
I don't see how the CWG could realistically complete its analysis on the
remaining 11 topics, plus resolve the open issues on the first 5 issues in two
hours. My suggestion is schedule a 2 hour call tomorrow, and then another 2
hour call on Monday.

Thank you very much Margie.
One quick suggestion is that we probably should suggest that the final report
is targeted for 21 September. I think we will need a meeting on Monday and the
21st would give you a little more time to apply the results decided in that
meeting.
I suggest you change the following statement at the end of Section 2.5: "As of
the date of this Status Report, the Rec6 CWG has determined the initial
support levels for the recommendations and statements described in Annex 3 for
the first five of 16 issues. " Here is a possible change: ". As of the
date of this Status Report, the Rec6 CWG has determined the initial support
levels for the recommendations and statements described in Annex 3 for the
first three issues plus 4.3. " I think that Issue 5 is still TBD based on the
work going on for 4.1 & 4.2.
I am not sure that we should include the numerical scores of consensus for
issues that we have resolved, i.e., issue categories 1, 2, 3 and 4.3. We did
agree though to do that for those that we are not finished with. If the group
thinks, otherwise I am okay with that. We are trying to get a sense of support
from more than those who responded to the poll and in doing that we probably
won't have time to add to the counts accurately. Also in some cases, one
person may be representing the views of their group, which means that counts
can be a little misleading.
In the parenthetical comment of the support level for recommendation 4.1, I
suggest that we say "New language is being explored for this item." The same
comment could be added to 4.2.
We probably should also add the following to Section 4, Recommended Next Steps:
"The CWG may recommend that a public comment period be opened after submission
of its Final Report."
Chuck
P.S. - This was prepared while taking notes in an IGF workshop so please make
sure my suggestions make sense.

Subject: [soac-mapo] Updated Rec6 CWGStatus Report
Importance: High
Dear All,
Please find attached an updated report that takes into account the comments
received during yesterday's call. I still need to proofread and format the
report, but would appreciate your comments by 1700 UTC tomorrow, as I plan to
update the report to include the results of the poll that Marika circulated
earlier today, and then send it directly to the ICANN Secretary for
distribution to the Board.
For those of you that may have missed yesterday's call, this report is only a
status report, and will be updated to become the final Report when the CWG
finishes its review of the polling conducted on the 16 issues. We expect
that the final Report will be published shortly. In the Status Report, I
suggest that it will be done by 20 Sept, to set expectations for any board
members that may read the Status Report.
Also, please note that the ICANN Secretary was sent a note on behalf of the
Rec6 CWG requesting that the Report be included in the Board's materials for
the September retreat.
Best Regards,
Margie
