To Whois:

I think that Whois should keep on as it is showing contact information of
registrants and registrars of website domains: names, phones, fax, mail and
physical addresses, etc. and should actually improve the accuracy of such
information thru verifiying with other publishers of contact information such
as the directories of White Pages and Yellow Pages, postal addresses, etc.
Those who register a website domain are actually registering a business and
business as a rule want to publish and make its business known to the general
public. This is standard for business. However, privacy laws are to do with
individuals and residential informations and are the exact opposite in intent
from what businesses want. That the general public can check with neutral
third parties such as Whois, Yellow and White Pages, post offices for physical
addresses is wonderful and good for businesses in terms of being known to the
public, the customers of businesses. To hide contact information
of a business website is going contrary to the intentions of businesses who
actually want to attract customers, not hide from them! Whois is the website
equivalent of the directories of the such as Yellow and White Pages for phone
and fax numbers, ditto the Postal books for physical and mail addresses. It is
IMPORTANT to keep such contact information and accurate to the general public,
so that anyone can contact directly the registrant of any domain on the
internet.
It would also help if Whois improves its accuracy of the registrant's
informations, when tracking down fraudsters who like hiding behind fake
addresses or using other people's addresses and contact informations,
impostering real businesses, to deceive the general public. There should be a
verification procedure of contact information put in place when people register
domains.
