I would like to see a more constructive effort to lobby the OS and browser
manufactures into automatically implementing what they have already installed
as far as security features for their programs. It would be a lot easier for
them to incorporate a simple wizard that allows parents to TURN ON the
restricted content of sites. IE: You purchase a computer and turn it on, you go
to surf the web but before doing so, you must answer a few questions pertaining
to the amount of users who will be using the computer along with their ages.
Anyone wishing to block out adult material would be able to do so in this
wizard with simple button checks. Only a parent or guardian would be able to
shut this feature off through an encrypted pin code or pass-phase.
These features are already installed on computers, but are rarely used because
parents do not know of them or do not know how to set them up. It would just be
easier to force them to use this feature, instead of forcing a whole industry
to conform to something that is not going to work. .xxx will only place all the
adult related material on the internet in one central place. It's easy to pick
out someone wearing a white shirt in a group of people who are wearing black
shirts.
