New TLD's should be added
only if you can positively answer the question 'would anyone rather register here
and *not* in .com?Fuzz is absolutely right! And that is why .web CANNOT be ignored.
It is one the few domains that stands a legitimate chance of competing with .com.
.biz probably has value too . .
If a new TLD doesn't appeal to MARKETERS, don't
expect it to take off. The only reason so many individuals speculate on .com's
is because they know businesses value it.
The live ccTLd .TV, is a great example.
With the convergence of the Internet and TV, .TV is short and meaningful enough to
have value. Expect it to succeed. Most other contrived TLD's will continue
to do what they are doing . .. languishing.
he same could easily happen to the
new TLD's ICANN rolls out if they aren't adequately aware that the new TLD's must
be APPEALING to businesses from a marketing perspective!!
