I am not so sure new gTLDs are needed, really. I've pointed this out before and you can read it at the link below. What is worse, is that the new gTLDs (if they are put up) will not do what I think you want. Many will be grabbed by those who already have the .com etc., to protect their business. Others will be registered in bulk by people who have bought .com in bulk. Who are to gain? Only and only the (new?) registrars. This whole new gTLD idea looks a lot like the land runs in Oklahoma. Will they shoot who cheats?
