Now, Garry's right. If ICANN
adds new gTLDs only lawyers and registrars will be the biggest gainers and not the
majority internet user who want to have a personal domain for email purpose (or web
page). My suggestion for more competition is to break up the
monopoly held by Network Solutions in .com, .net, and .org by giving operations of
the 3 gTLDs to 3 different companies, ie.
.COM - to be operated
by Network Solutions, Inc
.NET - to be operated by Register.com,
Inc
.ORG - to be operated by Tucows.com, Inc
Now, Network Solutions won't be able to monopolize the InterNIC Registry Level
anymore. As for the Registrar level, we have currently approximately 43 accredited
registrars and if ICANN will accept my proposal we will have 3 new registry operators
for .com, .net, and .org
Anyone agree with me ?
