You are right, there is no logical reason againt .WEB. There are a lot of practical reasons not to choose it. Like the fact that a lot of people have "preregistered" names with IOD in the .WEB. What about them? Shall these stand? Including those of a number of people who have lots of them? Check the web-registry for twoletter names and you will see what I mean. Then refuse to acknowledge those registrations at IOD? That is going to cause a lot of trouble as well and will make some lawyers richer. So, I fear, no .WEB.
