< Somewhere in the
middle are the advocates of pre-registered gTLD’s who seem to be in favor of opening
up the playing field just wide enough to let them in “first”. >>
1. Perhaps
this is the motivation of some pre-registrants. I think that the track record and
long-standing patience of the said gTLD registry is validation enough.
2. You
forgot to mention, "Somewhere in the middle are opponents of pre-registered
gTLDs who seem opposed to entering the respective gTLD out of jealousy and bitterness."
Fairness
in journalism.
3. How about opening NOT just ONE gTLD in January--but several.
. . thereby rendering your statement that pre-registrants seek to be "first" into
the Internet root, more meaningless than it is.
I mean, give them a break. We know
ICANN is seriously looking into approving 6-10 new gTLDs for roll-out in January.
Therefore, your admonishment of the alleged "I want to be first, I want to be first!"
shouters is sorta unwarranted.
