Agree with 410.There is not the political will to protect our children. You would
be wrong to think their main priority would be to protect them from dangers like
porn, racism and bomb making.
They would rather look after big business first,
and bring out so-called cybersquatting laws.
They have had a decade to sort things
out. There is a solution (taken from my protest site).
Although it can be done
by single government, it is best for International co-operation to arrange separate
database of addresses. IMMEDIATE implementation, fine tuning to be done AFTER joint
consultation. They will wish to delay, to sort out details. Remember this is for
children only - suggest take out porn, racial and dangerous (bomb making etc.) sites.
Maintained by separate independent organization, funded by participating governments.
This would give a central contact for people. This can be done, at least one NetNanny
type company is doing a similar job on its own.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
to have separate phone number for this database. Subscribers then have option for
either service.
Phone companies to have a list of ISPs. You can then obviously
bar these numbers from being used. Or if you do not, you will know if child subscribes
to an uncensored (free?) ISP. If a uncensored number is used - phone bill states,
just on top line, "Uncensored Internet used, phone number #####-######"
Note: NetNanny
type companies do not do the job well (IMHO), which is why this solution is needed.
Bots searching for updated sites and central contact could mantain system.
