This is a shocking abuse of the infrastructure of DNS,
breaking current functionality for the sake of commercial gain.
Verisign has betrayed the public trust established in it by
many bodies include ICANN. ICANN and other bodies such as the IETF should act
to remove from Verisign the responsibilities that allowed it to carry out this
abuse of trust. Even if Verisign agrees to reverse this implementation, the
damage is already done to the public trust and the question of whether Verisign
should be allowed to retain Monopoly control of this matter should be
addressed.
