ICANN said that the $15 fee proposed by IOD is at least 2.5 times the [Afilias]
fee. They helpfully point out that becoming a viable competitior is key and suggest
that the higher price is likely to deter regestrants and potential registrants.
9
am day one - no one buys anything.
The fees come down.
Actually before that IOD
have said that the fees would be set by the market forces - i.e. they are flexable
(like anyone's fees).
Supposing Afilias charge $15 for .info - all they have to
say is thaty they anticipated $6 but the actual fee is $15 (that happens with out
local tax all the time) and no on can do anything about it.
ICANN is in the pocket
of Afilias. They have suggested it and hinted it for some time.
For about six or
seven weeks it has been open to public eyes and in that time we have seen that the
fair process ICANN told us about is already suspiciously unfair.
ICANN was aware
that IOD fees were subject to change when they critised them two days ago.
Thats
the bottom line here.
