I think what IOD has been trying to say is:"Hey, let the market decide if we're
right"...
MY OPINION (based on my business experience):
Afterall, this is
a whole new ballgame with respect to uploading new TLDs...If they start to low, then
they would have a hard time "raising prices" to meet unforeseen cost demands (which
are there in every application--you can't "see" everything)....I think $15.00 is
a reasonable price to start at...then through competition, that price will definitely
change....
Also IOD is willing to negotiate if this is a "sticking" point with
their application. So I don't foresee a problem with prices....Just remember,
FIRST let the market decide...because if you don't...your going to get burned, either
way....
The other thing is to not get caught up in what is currently being charged
to DOT COM registrars...it took a long time for that price to hover where it is now....The
new gTLD's will have to go through a similiar process to determine their likeability,
use, etc, etc....
