[wildcard-comments] Verisign's Wildcard Service Deployment

For a number of reasons, I would urge ICANN to do everything in it's power
to force Verisign to discontinue it's ill-advised "Wildcard Service
Deployment".

Probably the largest negative effect we're experiencing is simply that a
big part of our spam detection/handling strategy has been negated and
rendered useless by this. A system that formerly checked for valid sender
domain on incoming email no longer works, subjecting our small service to
an even larger deluge of unwated UCE/UBE than was formerly the case.

My opinion is that Verisign has and continues to behave in wanton disregard
for the stability of the Internet. I feel that this is further indication
of a pattern of corporate behavior that strongly suggests that, perhaps,
ICANN should reconsider whether Verisign should even be allowed to continue
under any semblance of it's current charter. I think it's time the .com and
.net zones be removed altogether from Verisign's control, management, or
influence other than as a registrar of domain names. I completely applaud
the transfer of the .org registry to The Public Interest Registry and
suggest that a similar solution be applied as regards .com and .net.

Sincerely,
James Parsons
