Summary of discussions to date
Jari Arkoo has posted what appears to me to be an excellent and very fair summary of the comments made regarding the proposed ICG charter. It is at: http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/internal-cg/attachments/20140819/e4817315/ch arter-commentary-analysis-0001.pdf I had proposed to add a new item to the ICG charter to require the ICG to compile a summary of current proposals. My exact proposal was "As a first step, prepare a summary of the discussions and proposals submitted to various mailing lists (in particular the ISOC and ICANN lists), submit that summary for public comment, and revise that summary based on the public comments." Jari states: "I think we again agree on the intent. But this is already covered under item (iv) in the charter. The ICG sees information sharing and summaries as one of its four main tasks." Given that the ICG apparently agrees that a summary of the recent discussions could be useful, I attach as food for thought my own summary of those discussions. As stated in the attached, I have surely missed things or misunderstood things, so this should be considered as a very first draft input. Please note that the attached is not exactly the same as what I've posted in the past to other mailing lists: I have updated it to reflect the most recent discussions. Best, Richard Attachment:
