Subject: support for .union

The Norwegian Confederation of Trade unions (LO-Norway) which represents more than 800 000 members with 26 affiliated unions is supporting the proposal from the ICFTU for the setting up of a ".union" top-level domain" on the Internet, to be managed by trade unions, for trade unions.
* there is a clear need for the new domain. Unions are clearly distinct organisations and exist throughout the world. The union movement has a clear infrastructure and is able to effectively administer a new domain.
* the internet already plays an important role in the work of unions and is increasing on a daily basis.
* unions are a part of the civil society, and the granting of a top-level domain to unions would demonstrate clearly that ICANN wishes the net to serve citizens as well as commercial organisations.
