SWIFT, representing the banking and financial community would like to express its
objectin with respect to the application of the top level domain .fin requested by
the Association Monegasque des Banques.
We believe that the entire financial community
has an interest in .fin and that the support, regulation and administration of such
TLD should be given to a not for profit organisation representing the financial community
at large, as SWIFT.
SWIFT is a cooperative organisation owned by banks and which
provides secure global communication to close to 7000 financial institutions in 200
countries. The object of SWIFT as per its Articles of Association is "for the collective
benefit of the members of the company, the study, creation, utilisation and operation
of the means necessary for the telecommunication, transmission and routing of private,
confidential and proprietary financial messages".
In view of the above, we believe
that SWIFT has legitimate ground to object to this application.Note: we also refer
to our message dd 5 October whereby we informed you of our willingness to apply in
