Hello,
For .ca (Canada's ccTLD), there are 18 different legal types, see:
http://www.cira.ca/faq-canadian-presence-requirements/
(click on "What is a legal type" to expand), namely:
Canadian citizen
Permanent resident of Canada
Legal representative of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Corporation (Canada or Canadian province or territory)
Trust established in Canada
Partnership registered in Canada
Canadian unincorporated association
Canadian trade union
Canadian political party
Canadian educational institution
Canadian library, archive or museum
Canadian hospital
Her Majesty the Queen
Indian band recognized by the Indian Act of Canada
Aboriginal Peoples (individuals and groups) indigenous to Canada
Government or government entity in Canada
Trade-mark registered in Canada (by a non-Canadian owner)
Official marks registered in Canada
(and that's not all possible types, as various entities that don't fit
into the above are ineligible to own .ca domains, due to the presence
requirements) And to show how complex things can be, "Jane Doe" might
now be a "Permanent Resident of Canada", but then attain citizenship,
and be counted as a "Canadian citizen" under the legal type in the
future. However, I would not consider that to be a "Change of
Registrant" -- it's the exact same human being as it was before.
Sincerely,
George Kirikos
