 Hello everyone,

just a bit of news as food for thought and discussion:

This october, SWITCH, the registry for .ch and .li has started to sell 
domain names through their own, fully integrated registrar. Switchplus 
AG, a wholle owned subsidiary of SWITCH has started offering .ch, .li as 
well as .com, .net, .info, .biz and .org domain names to the general 
public.
This move has been long announced and solicited criticism from the 
registrar community, however the customer is now able to also choose the 
registry itself as their provider.
While this may not be a model for the top international truly generic 
gTLDs, it does suggest that VI is a workable principle for community 
TLDs that closely resemble ccTLDs in setup and purpose.
