uniform rapid suspension (URS) system

I am writing to urge you not to apply new and untested rights
protections to one of the original top level domain names. This would
be damaging for a number of reasons.
It would give one particular industry a stranglehold over the
development of the Internet. In particular, it would allow that
industry to put its own priorities ahead of the Net as a whole.
If that were to happen, this would inevitably lead to a diminishing of
the role of the .net domain, as companies - notably those outside the
US - avoided it. Similarly, the Net as a whole would suffer as
darknet-type solutions to circumvent the proposed move were developed
and became widely used. Again, this would be extremely bad both for
the .net domain, and the Internet as a whole.
