Oh come on. If we've established that a service is being donated then why would 
you reduce its value to zero? If you do that why would anyone bother offering 
it?

Not necessarily

I've been to auctions where items of high value went at low prices simply 
because the audience wasn't interested in them (ie . no demand) or where there 
was an over supply

Agreed and it's for that reason  that I don't see auctions as being a valid 
measure of "value"
