under the country specific code is country specific.I just want the current DNS
debacle sorted but I don't see anyone doing anything about it or even proposing to
do anything about it. ICANN and the registrars seem to think that domain registration
should be a land grab. Pitty the poor indians who already live there. Are they really
so naive or stupid to believe that simply creating new global top level domains will
make any difference at all?
Another advantage of a managed heirarchy is that end
users need never even see a domain name ever again. Web browser, mail, news software
etc could easily be made aware that the DNS now actually has a structure and make
use of that structure to find resources for the users. Looking for a plumber in the
UK, well, the web browser knows that they are all in uk.plumbers.com.
Instead,
we have an abomination. Chaos reigns supreme. The only people
benefiting are
repugnant people who register every name in every domain. It's disgusting.
