You may have seen my scenario for the allocation
of the ".shop" names and my proposition for large system protection (".sys" gTLD).
The only solution to protect the small is the statu quo, so you do not have confusion
and intruders. Adding new TLDs is changing the rule of the game while people have
arleady invested according to that rule.Since they may want to go ahead with new
TLDs (which has realy no interest IMHO) the only solution is to give .shop for free
to the owner of .com during 15 days, then to the owner of .net, then to the owner
of .org, assuming that ".shop" is an US ccTLD.
Otherwise it is unfair acting.
1)
many people will not take advantage of this
2) we want the net to develop and
you may want to develop a new site or a new approach. Or to passit to an affiliate.
Globally the DNs will not be lost, what is the target.
To proceed otherwise means:
"you developped the net. You invested in it. Now let other people pick a part of
your results".
Please, just make a note that your concern is also true for large
companies as well. Suppose you are Ford Inc. http://ford.com is valuable for you.
Now, Ford Garbage Collector Inc. gets http://ford.shop absolutely legitimately. You
are not really happy because you lost your exclusive too. And getting back your exclusive
on "Ford" word in the business theme will cost you a lot.
