ICANN seems concerned that, if awarded .WEB, IOD
will be understaffed. Has ICANN tried to get an employee from NSI on the phone?
I don't think so. NSI is currently understaffed. As a result, NSI provides
nearly non-existent customer service. ICANN wouldn't know this, because at
the ICANN offices, there are always plenty of NSI representatives available, 24/7.
It is disingenuous, at best, to assume
IOD will not be able to perform, when there is no real evidence to substantiate that
claim. The "experts" stating concerns about IOD's ability to handle the load
are only guessing, and cannot be positive their opinions will actually pan-out to
be factual. Their guesses are no reason to deny IOD the chance to perform,
considering IOD has performed perfectly to date. It is akin to denying a straight-A
high school student access to college ... it would seem ridiculous..WEB is a viable
product, in demand. IOD obviously deserves the first chance to sell and administer
.WEB. If this is not obvious, we are from different planets. It is absurd
to separate IOD from .WEB, considering IOD has done everything right, thus far.
ICANN is best advised to allow IOD to prove itself by awarding .WEB to IOD.
Thereafter, if IOD blows it, there will be plenty of players anxious to pick up the
ball and run with it.
