IOD has a CTO (me) as well as a large number of non-employee contractors. IOD also
has 2 subcontractors in GST and UltraDNS who are already in place. Indeed, the staff
summary compliments UltraDNS on their stability and operational capability. Furthermore,
criticisms of the ability to hire fall flat if the stack of resumes on my desk is
any indication. It just isn't a truthful criticism.Afilias has NO EMPLOYEES. None.
Their registry contractor, Tucows, is also an Afilias member. They'll still have
to hire quite a bit. Of their members, they have a talent pool to choose from, perhaps,
but do you really think that the CTO of Register.com and NSI are going to pick up
and move? Very doubtful.
Both companies will have to hire resources from outside.
The difference is, IOD is being taken to task for already having some, but not
all of these resources, and Afilias is being congratulated for having none.
