Subject: DOT WEB will be tied up in court and new bid process for years

It is simply quite obvious that DOT WEB should be a new top level domain. There is no one who disputes that fact.

If ICANN selects Image Online Design(IOD), the DOT WEB domain names will be in circulation immediately.

If ICANN selects Afilias, there is no chance DOT WEB domain names will make it into circulation soon.  In fact it will immediately end up in court.

There is no doubt that if Afilias is granted DOT WEB, it could not be used because of a trademark dispute.  Seems to me that IOD would get an immediate injunction against the sale of domain names, which would prevent the use of DOT WEB.  This could take years to resolve in the courts.  And if IOD wins, it is likely that IOD will have to wait until ICANN decides to approve bids again.

Because of the pent up demand, the Internet community needs DOT WEB immediately.  Just imagine how much demand would build up if DOT WEB were held up 5 years( 3 years in court and 2 years for a new bid process). It is truly unimaginable to think about that wait.

It seems that Afilias has to many potential lawsuits (Anti-trust, conflict of interest, trademark) that may arise out of bid process.  These may even expose ICANN to potential liabilities.

Image Online Design should be awarded DOT WEB because it is only way to bring the name into use immediately.
