<<  I had a similar experience to bigtymer.  I came across the .web pre-registration page and was thinking of registering, however I didnt because I couldn't find any evidence it was real.  I checked the ICANN website but found absolutely nothing about the .web registrations.  So in the end I didn't pre-register simply because there was no way of me knowing it was legit or not. >> When I came across IOD's .web, I did research with CNET and other reputable, established Internet news sources that confirmed that IOD was a pioneer and contender. Even though it was not news on ICANN's site, it was clear that I had not stumbled upon a scam, for journalists were covering it as a legitimate prospect. While I was not sure how great a risk IOD was, I was relieved to know that I was not about to transfer my credit card information to some teenage hacker who put up a web scam.
