Great rant WorldThoughts,
but...While those who registered .web names early on can be said to have been
handed a raw deal, once it was clear (by doing that research you mention) that IOD's
.web may not go into the root servers, you knew you were taking a gamble, or should
have. Yes, I'm sorry I didn't buy M$oft stock early on, I'm also sorry if you bought
Commodore stock at its peak, or waterfront property at low tide, but that's not my
problem, it cuts both ways.
That said, I think ICANN should include IOD's .web
in any increase of gTLD's, even if it turns out to be a disproof of concept. If they
don't, I think they owe it to the net community to specifically and clearly state
why they are not doing so. .web is a special case and needs to be dealt with one
way or another. I say this as someone who has no past, present, or foreseeable future
personal or financial interest in any .web domain.
BTW WT, could you give a pointer
to where IOD's .web is trademarked?
