While upgrading our equipment, not everything went without a hitch. We made to conscious
decision to upgrade in-place rather than take the system down for a time. Until such
time as we're in the root servers, there is the luxury to perform the occasional
test and see how the systems perform. During an upgrade of this scale, those tests
give us immediate feedback as to the capabilities of the new system, the new connectivity,
and help us perform acceptance testing on the third-party solutions that we have
purchased. I think this attention to detail speaks for itself. Should you believe,
however, that downtime and errors disqualify a company from performing its desired
task, I suggest that you kindly start a letter writing campaign to each and ever
computer services company on the planet. I can't think of a single one that provides
services on this scale and does not have the occasional problem. Thankfully, at the
end of the day, we're all still human, and business, as with life, is a learning
experience.
