Subject: Do you know how the current system works?

Mr. Hooker,

Are you familiar with the current process for domain name registration?  You go to the site of one of the companies that offer domain name registration, and you search for the domain name that you
want.  It is most likely already taken.  You can contact the person who paid $50 to register the domain name, and in most cases he will be happy to transfer ownership to you for a few thousand dollars (or more, depending on how badly you need it).

I understand your concern that the interests of the public and the law profession should be served by whoever controls the registration of .law domain names.  Undoubtably, dotLaw, Inc. (or anyone else, for that matter) will never be able to satisfy everybody;  however, I honestly believe that setting aside a top level domain for law that is controlled by lawyers and not a bunch of domain name scalpers is an extremely good idea, and the sooner it is implemented, the better.
