      I am a physicist and I graduated in Pisa, Italy, where
Galileo started modern science in 1600 and where Nobel Prizes
such as Fermi and Rubbia graduated.
      When I was young I was considered a mathematical genius,
so I am supposed to know statistics very well.
However, some years have passed and I may be stupid at this time.

About your brilliant East/West coast example: this is very nice and shows a *biased* sample.
You claim that IOD supporters represent a similar *biased* sample
in this forum. But I don't think so.
Again, there is a misunderstanding about cause and consequence:
people *became* IOD supporters after they saw that IOD is the
natural and fair choice for .web .
This is what happened to myself, so I know this more than you.

Your brilliant East/West coast example should be corrected:
take a generic sample from US population and make a survey:
"do you prefer East Coast or West Coast for vacation?".
Suppose that 90% prefer West Coast.
Then you go to West Coast and you make the survey again among
these people.
Result: you say that this is a *biased* result.
I don't think so.
(You should easily understand this analogy).
