It cannot be argued that on the one hand IOD is set to make its millions at the expense
of the other ICANN regestrars, while at the same time being unable to handle the
rush.At the very worst it must be one or the other!!
It would be odd for a company
to invest so much money and time and then, at the roll out find that it was losing
a % of business and funds because it was not ready. This suggestion is just mad!
Similarly,
when the gTLDs are alocated there must be a time period over which they can be implemneted.
You cannot just turn them on. Most applicants don't even know the name of the TLD
that they might be running.
ALL of ICANNs reservations about IOD are based entirely
on internal interests with Afilias.
From the advice ICANN receives professionally
- right through to discussions with other ICANN members over lunch ICANN is riddled
with individuals that are on the pay roll of applicant firms.
Four members cannot
vote because of this issue, Ken Stubbs is directly linked to Afilias, Core, Who (Core),
JVTeam (Core), iDomain, Melbourne IT (Core)and Neustar (Core) +? others??.
The
evaluation team was made up of three members of the same company that represents
CORE.
How much more do you need?
The only reason IOD's registry is not already
active is because they haven't entererd into this activity.
None of the applicants
dropped so far were in the CORE-club.
All of the CORE-club applicants have progressed
As
if to spell the point out to make it even clearer - the "involvement of CORE" is
actually used as a "strength" in the evaluation if idomain's .biz application. IDomain
is a Ken Stubbs company as is CORE. They were evaluated by the company paid to represent
CORE.
What chance do the other.biz applicants actually have??
The problem is
that we either believe that ICANN is daft enough to not notice (and that doesn't
make you over confident in them) or arogant enough to think they will just get away
with it (and again, the confidence is not overflowing with that one either).
Its
going to be one of those weeks - I can tell!
