This ICANN process for New TLDs is a very serious matter.

I apologize to this Forum for any statement that I made that may have appeared politically loaded.  No joke or biased political comment was intended from me and I will restrain from making any such comments in the future.

What I described appears to me to be true, however, and with some of the matters I am learning about in this Forum, and as I learn and study how ICANN became what it is today, I am wondering why the FCC does not have jurisdiction over the ICANN process.

I am interested in knowing exactly why the US Federal Communications Commission does not have jurisdiction over the entire ICANN process and how a private non-profit group (ICANN) was awarded such responsibility.
