Subject: Bumping Trademark Infringement

Message:

Whenever a domain name is attempted to be registered, a database check is made to see if that name already exists.  If a database of *registered* trademarks could also be checked (at the time of registration), potential infringement might be avoided.  I say "potential" because generally the courts will have to decide.  However, I feel that many names are registered without knowing whether or not a registered trademark may be infringed upon.  In some cases, the person attempting to register such a name, upon notification that the name may be problematic, will decide to pass on the registration and select another; of course, everyone does not play by the same rules and hence we have courts.
